I had never played the original NWN when it was first released in 2002 or 2003, but I have always been a big fan of 3.0 D&D. This game is the closest thing on a computer to actually playing that pen and paper game. From choosing your race and class to skills and feats, it has that definite, true, classic D&D feel that many other games have tried to imitate. So what do you actually get? Not only do you get the original NWN but also the two quality expansions - Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir Expansion

The improvements that come with this expansion really do breathe some new life into NWN 2. Many of the character skills which were not utilized in the original campaign now have new usefulness. Having the opportunity to build a trading empire is a nice diversion from combat. The storyline is interesting and, in the usual NWN fashion, has a few twists and turns. I would say that one could expect around 20 hours of play from this expansion, maybe more. I think that NWN2: Storm of Zehir is a good value.

Neverwinter Nights 2 Gold

I am unfamiliar with computers, and I will say that this game installed and played fine on my VISTA 64 system. I did have one "crash" episode in the "Tomb of the Betrayers," but on reload the error did not repeat.

I guess my problem with the game overall is that the story arc narratives got a little long, and too many characters, like Duncan, were left disappointingly underdeveloped. The game is also hyper-sensitive to the mouse, which means that it takes practice with the mouse to control the screen.

Neverwinter Nights 2

Let's get one thing out of the way. I never played the first one though I am planning now on going back and revisiting it along with other "classic" RPGs such as Baldur's Gate. But as soon as I finished The Sith Lords heard that Obsidian was working on another game I wanted to buy it. The problem is, I didn't have a PC that could run it (officially... I still don't - I've been using my brother's). So I didn't get around to playing it until about a year ago and then college came along and drove a big stake through my available playtime.
